Rockingham County Fair

The Rockingham County Fair is an annual event in Harrisonburg every mid August. This year’s fair takes place Aug. 16 to 21.

Since 1949, the county fair has been an integral and exciting part of the Rockingham community.

Location

Rockingham County is located in the northwestern part of Virginia, just north of Albemarle County.

Harrisonburg is a two hour drive from Washington, D.C., and a two hour drive from Roanoke. From Richmond, Harrisonburg is about two hours.

The county fair will take place at the Rockingham Fairgrounds in Harrisonburg. The address is 4808 South Valley Pike.

Only 10 minutes from the Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport and in close proximity to I-81, the Rockingham Fairgrounds are easily accessible.

Admission

Advance gate tickets are $5 per adult and $2 for children ages 7-12. Advance tickets must be purchased before the fair opens.

Ride tickets are $18 per day.

Dollar Day is Monday. All rides are only $1 each on this day.

Grandstand and Showcase Tent Events

The Rockingham County Fair features new and exciting events at the grandstand throughout the fair.

Highlights include Motocross, Professional Bull Riding, and a Demolition Derby. Country music stars perform at the grandstand.

Events and Competition

Livestock events featuring cattle, poultry, and small animals will take place at the fair.

Visitors to the fair will be able to see the livestock. Experts will be on hand to answer any questions about the animals.

In addition to livestock competitions, the fair will have contests in the area of flowers, farm crops, homemaking, and photography.

A dog show will take place determining the prettiest purebred, the best kisser, and the best in show.

The Antique Tractor Pull entertains crowds at the Harrisonburg Ford Arena.

Pageants

The Miss and Master Rockingham County Fair Pageant will take place prior to the fair. The Junior Miss competition for children also occurs during this time.

Winners of the Rockingham County Fair Pageants will celebrate throughout the duration of the fair.
