New Kent County Fair

The New Kent County Fair takes place every year in mid to late August.

The event features a parade, a pageant, a 5K and a Kid’s Fun Run. It is a three-day event appropriate and entertaining for the whole family.

Location

The New Kent County Fair will take place at the Colonial Downs Race Track in New Kent County, Virginia.

New Kent County is one of the oldest counties in the state of Virginia. The county has many attractions, including Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestowne.

The address of the Colonial Downs Racetrack is 10515 Colonial Downs Parkway, Virginia.

From Richmond, New Kent County is a 40 minute drive away. From Washington, D.C., New Kent County is about two and a half hours away. From Roanoke, New Kent County is three and a half hours away.

Hours and Schedule

The fair is scheduled to open to the public at 5 p.m. Friday. The fair will be open that night until 9 p.m.

A 5K and Fun Run are held each year. See the fair’s official website for event information and entry forms.

On Saturday, the fair opens to the public at 9 a.m. The parade takes place on the racetrack at 10 a.m.

On Sunday, the fair opens at noon. The Miss New Kent County Fair Introduction will take place on Sunday.

Events

The fair features an Exotic Animal Petting Zoo. The Petting Zoo will be open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The New Kent County Fair also has Home and Garden Exhibits and Raging Bull Rides each day.

A car show will take place on Saturday. It is $20 to register a car for the show in advance, and $30 to register on site.

A portion of this registration fee is donated to the New Kent Historical Society.

A Duck and Goose Calling Contest takes place on Sunday. It is $5 for youth 15 and under to enter the contest and $10 for adults.

Additional games, vendors, and food stands will be present at the fair.
