Hampton Roads Events

Hampton Roads has major events planned year round that draw crowds of all ages from all across the country.

Each season can be celebrated with a festival or other annual event. There are too many events to attend, so no one person can soak in them all.

Norfolk Jazz Festival - Relax to live jazz music during the annual Norfolk Jazz Festival at Towne Point Park. Great musicians offer high quality entertainment during the three-day event held in July.

Virginia Arts Festival - Artisans and craftspeople gather for this annual festival in Norfolk every year. Starting in early April and running through May, it features various arts and crafts from local artisans.

Mid-Atlantic Quilt Show - Countless vendors and hundreds of quilts draw crowds to Hampton for this annual event each year. Celebrate culture and heritage with the displays of magnificent quilts created by the artisans who have learned the timeless practice from earlier generations.

Jamestown Day - Step back in time to stroll the streets of historic Jamestown. This event is focused on celebrating the first colony and its settlers. Learn about history and heritage while partaking of the food and beverage of local eateries.

Annual Civil War Reenactment at Fort Pocahontas - Gather at Fort Pocahontas in Charles City to see the wheels of time go back. Every May, the day of the Civil War return with hundreds of costumed reenactors taking to the battlefield to recreate the battle that took place on the site.

Patriotic Festival: A Celebration of Our Military - This annual event at Virginia Beach sets aside a weekend at the end of May or early June to honor those who have fought for this nation. Being a naval port, of course, the location is fitting for such an event.

Yorktown Independence Day Celebration - Celebrate Independence Day in historic Yorktown. There is obviously no better location that a town that played a significant role in the nation's history to celebrate the indpendence of the nation.

Annual Hampton Bay Days Festival - Downtown Hampton comes alive for the Annual Hampton Bay Days Festival each September. Fun, food, entertainment, vendors and more line the downtown streets.

Nottoway Tribal PowWow - Celebrate culture at the annual powwow held each September in Capron. This Native American event features authentic dances, activities, and Native American history lessons.

100 Miles of Lights - From mid-November through early January, 100 miles of lights are used to light up the festivities of the holiday season around the Virginia Beach area. This festive exhibit is sure to be a favorite for all ages.

Regardless of the time of year, there are plenty of fun events slated for the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. Whether visitors are history buffs or they want to learn more about the heritage and culture of the area, they can rest assured that there are plenty of events for them to enjoy.
