This is a state park with a twist.

As the name implies, Breaks Interstate State Park is actually located within the borders of two different states.

Part of this beautiful park rests in Virginia and part in Kentucky. The 4,500-acre park, located in the Appalachians, boasts a long list of activities and luxurious cabins.

A highlight of a visit to Breaks Interstate Park is viewing the 5 mile gorge. Some call this park the Grand Canyon of the South, and the views are just amazing.

Of course, once visitors learn about all the fun activities available, they will want to do more than stand around and look.

Enjoy water activities including white water rafting, canoeing and fishing. Visitors can also enjoy an hour or two on a pedal boat. Hiking and mountain biking are also very popular activities in Breaks Interstate State Park.

For a decidedly 21st century bit of outdoor fun, give geocaching a try during your visit to Breaks Interstate Park. There are about 60 caches located in the park, so visitors can hunt for days!

The options for overnight visitors are diverse. Visitors can choose everything from camping to staying in one of the park’s luxurious cabins.

Cabins are available in various sizes to accommodate both small and large families. This park is also home to the wonderful Rhododendron Restaurant, which is open during busy seasons.

When visitors enjoy all of the many activities in the park, they are bound to get a restful night of sleep. The park has a quiet time policy that begins at 10 p.m.

This means visitors will be able to fall asleep to the sounds of nature without background noise from generators and loud parties.

For those who want to enjoy outdoor activities in a beautiful setting then this park is a perfect choice.

Whether guests want a week of tent camping or want to stay in a fully equipped cabin, Breaks Interstate State Park has it all.
