Prince William County Fair

The Prince William County Fair in August is the largest county fair in Virginia. Nearly 100,000 people visit it every year. The 2021 event takes place Aug. 13 to 21.

Location

The Prince William County Fair is located on the Prince William County Fairgrounds in Manassas, Virginia.

Prince William County is located in northern Virginia, less than an hour away from Washington, D.C.

Attractions

Part of the reason the Prince William County Fair is the most popular and well attended fair in Virginia is because of the attractions it offers.

Fair attractions include animal and midway shows, nightly grandstand events and showbarn performances, clowns, home arts exhibitions, and craft demonstrations.

The fair also hosts a demolition derby, a monster truck show, and a championship rodeo.

Competitions

At the Prince William County Fair, there is a competition for almost every area imaginable. Those interested in participating in a competition can download printable information on the county fair’s website.

Fun4U competitions include the Chocolate Challenge, the Baby Contest, and the Pet Show.

The fair has a Open Home Arts and a Junior Home Arts Division for competitors. Departments in this division include Food Preservation, Baked Goods, Flowers and Gardens, Photography, Ceramics and Clay, and Handicrafts.

An Open Agriculture Division judges beef cattle, dairy cattle, poultry, rabbits, sheep, and swine.

For younger participants in the agriculture division, the fair offers a Youth, 4-H, and and FFA Agriculture Division.

Rides and Food

Rides are open for the duration of the fair. Rides include a ferris wheel, a bounce house, and a variety of carnival rides.

The fair menu includes everything fried, from dough to butter, as well as hot dogs, pizza, chicken fingers, and southern barbeque.

Tickets

Tickets for the Prince William County Fair are $8 for adults and $5 for children 5-13 and seniors 60 and over.

The cost of the ticket includes parking, midway shows, and admission.

Unlimited Ride Wristbands cost $16 on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, $18 on Friday, and $20 on Saturday. Individual ride ticket prices vary by day.

Every year, the fair holds a $2 dollar admission day on Tuesdays. Admission to the fair is $2, and rides are $2 each.

Half Price Day is on Sunday with both regular admission and ride bands at half price.

History

The Prince William County Fair first took place in 1949. It was hosted by a group of World War II Veterans looking to promote the county’s local agriculture.

The fair receives no federal or state funds, being privately owned by the Prince William Veterans Farm Club.
